Lurcher accessories: Abandoned dogs need help

Published Monday, February 08, 2010

People looking for lurcher accessories who live in the Shields area have been urged to consider taking in three pups who were abandoned outside in the cold weather.

The lurcher pups were spotted in a field behind a pub by a local man who alerted a dog warden and are now being cared for at Cleadon Kennels, the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette reports.

Sarah Wilkinson, who manages Cleadon Kennels, said it is "disgraceful" that somebody could dump puppies outside in cold, rainy weather.

"It wasn't the sort of weather where you would leave puppies outside," she told the paper.

"If they hadn't been spotted, they could have been there for hours."

People in the area who want to put their lurcher accessories to good use have been invited to get in touch with the kennels to see if they can help.

It follows news in the Bromsgrove Advertiser that the Hall Green Retired Greyhound Trust is hosting a special Valentine's Day event to help find homes for ex-racing greyhounds.ADNFCR-2578-ID-19603744-ADNFCR
