WHILST his co-stars and the production team were reaping the plaudits at the BAFTAS, Uggie, the Jack Russell that caught the hearts of the cinematic world through his role in The Artist, was picking up an award or two of his own at the Golden Collar at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday.
The Daily News, the online marketing and media company, created the Golden Collars in the wake of the huge interest in Uggie, who in addition to The Artist has appeared in a number of films including Water for Elephants, and this was the inaugural ceremony.
Uggie, who is 10-years-old, was named the winner of “Best Dog in a Theatrical Film” for his roles in “the Artist” and in “Water for Elephants”. It will be interesting to note how well “The Artist” does at the Oscars where it is up for 10 Academy Awards.
Also success at the Golden Collar awards were French bulldog Brigitte, for her portrayal of Stella on TV's "Modern Family," and Hercules of "Pit Boss," who tied with Giggy of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" for best dog in a reality television series.
