A RABBIT being dubbed the “bravest in the world” caused officials to declare void a greyhound race at UK track Sunderland on Wednesday after jumping onto the track and racing with the greyhounds for at least 20-30 metres.
The incident, was caught on camera and can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH2-3U4bCnM, caused the stewards to announce an official inquiry and then declare the race void due “outside interference”.
Joe Donnelly, a director of the track owned by bookmaking giants William Hill, said: “We do have the occasional problem with wildlife straying onto the track as we are a green belt site surrounded by open fields and rabbits.
“Fortunately, the rabbit lived to tell the tale and the greyhounds were absolutely fine afterwards. So there was no harm done.”
