PENSIONER Carole Westley has donated £900 to the Dogs Trust after raising the amount by running in the Milton Keynes Marathon.

The 66-year-old completed the more than 26 miles course in and around the Buckinghamshire town in a smart four hours and 47 minutes and attributes her success to the inspiration of running for such a worthwhile cause.

Carole, who is a member of a running club based in Canterbury, Kent, said: “The wind and rain provided very unpleasant running conditions, but it was the thought of all the stray and abandoned dogs that kept me going. The money I raised will help buy them treats, food, blankets and toys – they are such deserving dogs and I was very happy to help!”
