DEMAND for the Jack Russell Terrier has increased significantly following the success of the film The Artist, Battersea Dogs Home has revealed.

The world famous dog home has disclosed that enquiries for the Jack Russell are at an all-time high as the Hollywood blockbuster keeps the box office and the awards ceremonies very busy.

The reason is a Jack Russell by the name of Uggie who is one of the main performers in The Artist, a black and white silent movie which picked up a hatful of BAFTAs and is tipped to do just as well in the Oscars this weekend.

It seems the dog-owning public have fallen in love with the Jack Russell. On February 12, which was the night of the BAFTAs, 630 people searched for the Jack Russell on the Battersea Dogs Home website. That’s double the number that looked on the corresponding day a week earlier.
