SUE RATCLIFFE, from Harlow, in Essex, has been named Fundariser of the Year at the Specsavers Guide Dog of the Year awards at a star-studded ceremony in London hosted by ITV’s Adrian Chiles after raising a six-figure sum for Guide Dogs UK.

Sue began her campaign to raise cash for one of the most popular of the working dogs eight years ago when her husband Gary was tragically in a road accident. The florist from Essex has since raised enough to fully train 21 new guide dog puppies but plans to continue increasing the coffers of the charity.

She said: "The award is such a fantastic way to acknowledge the combined efforts of everyone who has helped me to raise so much money and I know Gary would be so proud of us. It really was one of those evenings I will never forget."
