AS many as 14 stray dogs have been shipped over from Romania in a last attempt to find them homes after they were abandoned in their home country.
The Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk has joined forces with the Happy Angels House Rescue in Romania in an attempt to find the many stray dogs in Romania a home in the UK.
The liberalisation of UK quarantine laws in the UK to match those already in place in Central Europe have made it much easier for dogs to travel across the English Channel and it is an opportunity to help some beleaguered dogs, according to John Watson, of Hillseide.
He told the Norwich Evening News: “The more of these dogs that we find homes for the more we can rehome in the future. Everyone of these stories is a real tear-jerker and we want to give these dogs a new start.”
