AN advertisement created exclusively for dogs will be shown on British TV for the first time this evening. It is understood that the ad which is commissioned by Barkers the dog food company, is the first of its kind to be made for British television.

The minute-long commercial will be a parody of the feature film The Italian Job and will feature a high-pitched sounds only audible to dogs, and a series of whistles and barks aimed at catching the canines attention.

It is understood the object of the ad is to garner a reaction from the animal which will lead to dog’s owners believing their charge is interested in the product.

The advert is scheduled to go out on ITV1 at 7.15pm today, during a break in the soap Emmerdale. Nestlé, in order to promote their Purina brand of pet food, screened a similar ad in Austria in 2011 and may be shown on British TV later this year.
